Marina Bay Sands – Architecture Changing The Face Of Singapore
My latest piece on the Marina Bay Sands a gigantic casino opening in Singapore.
My latest piece on the Marina Bay Sands a gigantic casino opening in Singapore.
I followed up these ‘fun’ articles with a couple of pieces on architecture’s hot topic sustainability, writing articles on Green Walls and Sustainable Skyscrapers.
As I am building a lot of other writing commitments I have concentrated my Suite writing to solely architectural articles in a bid to be more focused. I have tried to write articles that are a bit more fun and less academic to try and widen my readership.
I wrote an article on North Korea’s Tallest Building, the soon to be completed (maybe) Ryugyong Hotel, and famous buildings that have been destroyed in films as well as an article on the possibility of Barbie becoming an architect.
This week I passed the $50 mark at Suite101! I currently have 67 articles and have been active on suite for 3 months. I’m still unsure about the profitability of suite, but am enjoying having a medium to express my thoughts and ideas…
As architecture feature writer I have tried to up the quality of my submissions. This combined with a growing number of other commitments have led to a reduction in my output. The articles I have produced are on Olympic Architecture, the Crazy House in Vietnam, the Museum of Scotland and North Korea’s Giant Hotel.
I’m still settling into life as a feature writer and haven’t really got the grasp of the home page. I am, however, getting views on the home page and feel that I am getting increased exposure from being a feature writer.
My page views have now stabilised at around 250 views a day, which I am very happy about. However, I am finding that my revenue changes massively from day to day.
In the last three weeks a very strange and unexplained pattern has appeared. On Monday and Tuesday I make a lot (by my standards) of revenue, Wednesday and Thursday and Sunday almost nothing, and Friday and Saturday somewhere in between. I have no explanation for this variance but would love to hear people’s thoughts.
After a little bit of campaigning I am extremely happy to announce that I have been promoted to Architecture Feature Writer. This means that I will hopefully be receiving a little bit more exposure as my articles are much more visible on the architecture home page. As a feature writer I will also now receive a %20 bonus on my revenue, which is very nice.
For my first contribution as feature writer I wrote an article about possibly my favorite architect, Santiago Calatrava.
My article on Le Corbusier was my 50th at Suite101.
Today is exactly two months since I wrote my first article for Suite101. During this time I have contributed 49 articles and generated revenue of $13.67. Although I have not really made much money, I feel that my skills as an online writer have improved dramatically. I am gaining a much better understanding of SEO, the use of keywords, etc. I also find Suite101 a very useful and easy to use online resume.
Applying my new found skills the articles I am currently producing are of a higher quality and much more visible in search engines. I hope that this will see my revenues start to expand, something that they have already began to do.
I feel I am definitely on the right track, a fact that was confirmed by one of my articles receiving an Editor’s Choice Award, and am looking forward to progressing further next month.
Congratulations! Your article “FIFA World Player Of The Year Nominees” was chosen by the Editor of the Section in which it appears this week because it exemplifies the quality content, excellent presentation, and high standard we are striving for at Suite101.
I don’t really know what this means but it made me feel I was at least heading in the right direction, although I do not feel this is the my best piece.
